JOB SUMMARY
This position conducts inspections of properties to ensure conformance with County's zoning enforcement and building permit programs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include some or all of the following.
Other functions, duties and/or responsibilities may be assigned periodically.
Provides cordial, responsive and accurate customer service.
Experience in the basic use & knowledge of computers.
Receives and responds to nuisance complaints from citizens.
Investigates nuisance complaints and takes appropriate action in accordance with the county ordinance.
Travels to and conducts site inspections of real property and improvements to ensure compliance with various County land use ordinances and statutory requirements.
Acquired and maintains knowledge regarding current Queen Anne’s County Zoning Ordinance and maps; Critical Areas Ordinance; Sediment Control Ordinance; and other appropriate ordinances and statues.
Attends hearings of Board of Appeals and Planning Commission and provides testimony when required.
Appears in District Court and provides testimony regarding alleged zoning violations.
Responds to customer inquiries by providing appropriate information to customer inquiries.
Posts signs on owner’s property notifying community of pending zoning action.
Types general correspondence, memoranda and reports.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Nuisance/Zoning Inspector -
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Two Years experience in enforcement/permit activities or four years experience in a related field.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possession of a Class C Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or the ability to obtain such a license within thirty (30) days of appointment to position.
