aspx* *DUTIES: *Responsible for operating a variety of heavy duty equipment and specialized equipment used in the maintenance and/or construction of roads, bridges, dredge sites, burrow areas, landfills and dams.
May be required to perform other highway maintenance, solid waste maintenance or landfill type duties.
*REQUIREMENTS: *Working knowledge of the operating procedures of various makes and types of heavy duty construction equipment; of the safe operating limits of heavy equipment; of traffic regulations; of the principles of highway engineering as they apply to highway maintenance and construction involving the use of heavy equipment; of the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and gasoline and diesel engines.
Ability to operate all types of heavy construction equipment listed above; to make minor repairs to heavy equipment and to assist with complex repairs to the equipment under the guidance of an automotive mechanic; to understand and execute instructions; to train equipment operators, and to perform other related highway maintenance functions.
*EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:* High school diploma or GED.
Two years experience in highway maintenance operations with highway equipment for road construction.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Possession of a valid Class "B" commercial driver's license with Air Brake Endorsement.
Possession of valid DOT physical card.
Flagger Certification.
Public Agency Roadside Tree Expert Certification.
Herbicide Spraying Certification.
Forklift Certification.
CPR and First Aid Certifications.
Fire Extinguisher Certification.
Ability to comprehend safety training.
Homeland Security Certification.
Willingness to be on call 24 hours per day for emergency situations.
Ability to pass drug testing and background check.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $35,298.
00 - $42,294.
