Our growing malthouse is in search of an Operations Manager to ferment innovation and malt mastery.
If you possess a blend of strategic vision and hands-on leadership, this role is brewed just for you! Candidates should be available every other weekend to assist in plant operations.
Some of the operations are 24/7 therefore, while on duty, candidates must be available throughout the day.
Based in our Laurel, DE plant and under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Operations Manager leads the day-to-day operations through the management and scheduling of personal to achieve business needs.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the management of bulk storge of malt inventory, blending, packaging, shipping operations.
The Operations Manager has accountability for shippable malt inventories and quality for both bulk and bagged products.
The Operations Manager is the Site safety owner and is responsible all aspects of safety for the plant.
The Operations Manager must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide range of activities and responsibilities.
It is therefore a requirement that the individual filling this position has an aptitude to learn new skills, to think “outside the box”, be self-motivated and be willing to work in a dynamic environment where fixed routines may not yet be established.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Ø Ensure plant safety through implementation of the Company’s HS&E systems for the Delaware Plant in line with the executive committee’s policies and guidelines Ø Work to establish the Delaware plant as the preeminent supplier of roasted grains and malts Ø Reinforce a team focused, results driven collaborative company culture and atmosphere across the Delaware Plant Ø Management of the quality and inventory all bulk shippable malt and specialty roasted products to shipment or delivery to customers Ø Employee hiring, performance management plans and terminations Ø Oversee employee reviews and performance management establishing individual targets and establishing performance improvement plans when appropriate Ø Schedule Delaware team members and review related time reports in compliance with company attendance policy Ø Ensure daily production, transfers, and shipment reports at submitted according to policy Ø Direct, plan and manage Delaware operations ensuring consistent quality are consistent with the proprietary product portfolio specifications Ø Provide leadership while overseeing and directing the day-to-day operations Ø Establish and maintain the Delaware plant’s operations quality control procedures and protocols Ø Attract, retain and motivate team members to ensure a high level of employee satisfaction, company performance to produce consistent and high-quality products Ø Promote a culture of company pride, teamwork and personal responsibility through honest communications Ø Provide leadership for the Delaware plant’s day-to-day operational activities consistent with the plant’s goals and objectives Ø Identify and propose plant specific key performance indicators for malt storage, bulk and byproduct shipments, packaging, warehouse, bagged shipments – “KPI’s” (quality, utility consumption, labor performance, safety, etc.
) and related reporting requirements Ø Provide commentary for the Delaware plant financial review and analysis Ø Collaborate as follows: * Collaborate with Plant Manager: § Plant staffing and scheduling § Personal reviews, development plans, performance enhancement plans and terminations for plant § Malting and Roasting Production Plan to maintain target inventories of shippable malt * Collaborate with the Director of Operations: § Shipment blends § Customer complaint follow up § Shippable malt inventories * Collaborate with the Director of Quality and Safety: § Site Safety Program § Ensure all training and policies are in place and being followed as laid out by the Director of Quality and Safety.
* Collaborate with the Maintenance and Projects Manager § Understand and drive the maintenance program · Ensure maintenance PMs are being completed · Day to day management of the maintenance team · Maintenance Technician reviews, development, performance enhancement plans, terminations *POSITION QUALIFICATIONS * *Competency Statement(s) * * Analytical Skills - Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.
