Job Title: Shipping Packager
Department: Distribution
Reports To: Distribution Manager

Schedule & Hours:
1st Shift (7:30am-3:45pm), Monday through Friday.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Order Fulfillment:
Receives customer orders from Shipping Coordinator to pick parts for customer order fulfillment.
Picks parts from various areas to fulfill each order.
Ensures accurate quantity and part numbers are picked for each order.
Takes orders to the shipping packaging area for preparation and packing.
Packing:
Receives customer orders from Order fulfillment to prepare for shipment.
Ensures that shipments are packaged properly for the mode of transportation.
Ensures shipments are prepared in accordance with customer requests.
Ensures accurate preparation of packages as required by various hazardous material regulations.
Completes and attaches documentation as instructed for various modes of transport.
Weighs and process shipments at the manifest system.
Runs and distribute daily reports generated at manifest during the end-of-day close process.
Performs all aspects of assembly line operation according to posted daily work, including:
box assembly.
packing parts in packing software for shipment.
carton closing, with detail for hazardous marks, labels, etc.
Filling in as needed in FGW by performing order fulfillment and picking items for customer orders.
Uses the electronic scanning system to ensure the accuracy of items for customer orders and mode of transport.
Operates carrier software and mailing equipment.
Assists in other department functions as needed, such as cutting kimpack, wrapping pallets, filling cans with vermiculite, and operating a pallet jack to move materials or orders as needed, etc.
Miscellaneous:
Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to:
Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event.
5-S program in department or other areas assigned.
DMAICs.
Continuously looks for ways to improve both the department’s and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly.
Notifies the Coordinator/Manager of any production, equipment, safety, personnel problems, etc.
, and cooperates in resolving such issues as well.
For example, requests assistance when systems prevent the efficient performance of duties or when a system fails.
Provides the Coordinator/Manager with feedback to determine where additional training would benefit and obtain additional training as necessary.
Assists in other department activities as needed.
Floats to and works in other Production areas as needed.
Complies with all Company policies.

Requirements:
Qualifications/Job Requirements:
Requires basic math skills, ability to read, understand and implement written procedures, policies, etc.
Previous experience in shipping and knowledge of shipping procedures for hazardous materials are a plus.
Must be able to learn packing software, operate carrier shipping software and mailing equipment, and learn the order fulfillment process.
Must be able to transport packages up to 70 pounds frequently each day, operate a pallet jack, and be able to work overtime as needed.
Forklift experience is a plus.
Requires good math skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and color perception.
Computer experience desired.
Environmental Factors/Physical/Mental Capabilities:
Works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
Requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and the ability to transport up to 70 pounds and operate a pallet jack.
Requires good math skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and color perception.
Must be able to operate a computer and the manifest mailing equipment.
