Operator: Print Finishing Bindery
JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of advanced journeyman-level binding and finishing functions for print production.
Uses manual and automated methods to trim, collate, fold, bind, and assemble books, pads, packages, brochures, and other requested production.
Assembles and packages completed work for final distribution through the mailroom.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Determines the proper print finishing technique based on information provided in a job jacket.
Operates and maintains automated collator, folder, stitcher, cutter, padder, hole punch, shrink wrap, and coil and wire binders.
Sets up and adjusts a variety of equipment to achieve complex binding, collating, and finishing techniques.
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and makes minor repairs, as necessaryl.
Prepares final work for distribution to include counting, packaging, labeling, stacking and moving to the mailroom.
Helps to oversee incoming paper deliveries and to organize and maintain print shop storage area.
Performs back up for Quick Copy Center, as necessary.
May be involved in installation of completed large-format printed materials (as workload allows).
Demonstrates and instructs new employees, work study students, helpers, or other designated persons in the safe use, operation, and techniques of bindery equipment and related apparatus.
Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Experience Four (4) years progressively responsible work experience in operating bindery equipment required.
Two (2) years training/experience in the safe use, operation, set-up and adjustment of bindery equipment and related apparatus preferred; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
