Scientific Products, an ATS Life Sciences Company is expanding our team and have immediate opening for a Mold Technician - 2nd Shift! This is a 2nd shift position, with hours from 3pm - 11:30pm.
The primary focus will be to setup installed molds and set up machines controls for various size machines.
You will be responsible for making all connections, attaching hoses, straps, and any other device that is used in the setting up of a plastic injection/ blow mold machines.
WHAT YOU WILL DO Prepare molds for production runs (in accordance with the schedule & prioritized by due dates) Sets up molds on the injection molding machines Troubleshoots machine and mold problems, and coordinates tool repair and maintenance.
Perform limited size inspection utilizing gages, micrometer calipers or, special fixtures.
Perform post-molding operations such as milling the gates, drilling holes, inserting inserts, hand removal of molded components from parts, hot stamping, etc.
at the molding machine and during the cycle.
Operate a granulator, rework or inspect other molded parts and fill in on the other machines as demand rises.
Maintain production paperwork, mold technician work orders and, present it to the shift supervisor at the end of a shift.
Mold technicians may be asked to perform the duties of a “Production & Process Technician QUALIFICATIONS A background in computing specifications, planning the sequence of operations, measuring, making and scribing metal stock, setting up and operating machines such as vertical mills, engine lathes, drill presses, grinders, etc.
to tolerances less than one thousands of an inch, is required.
Journeyman status, CAM/CNC background and previous experience in plastic mold making are preferred High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
Must have a solid work history and attendance record Experience as a competent Machine Operator, Material handler or, have prior experience elsewhere may be considered toward qualifying as a Production Technician.
Familiarity with the plastic molding process and materials as well as previous experience in a similar position and basic computer literacy are preferred.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are typical of those an employee might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages.
The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas.
The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air-conditioned.
