We are seeking an entry-level accounting candidate who has excellent interpersonal skills, customer service abilities and thrives in fast-paced environments.
The core responsibility for this role is to perform the accounting activities for the Perdue AgriBusiness business segment in accordance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
This includes the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, operational reporting, operations analysis, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of other business requests for information.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop an understanding of AgriBusiness business activities and Agtech systems to include contract entry and pricing, hedging, futures, ticket entry and application; void processing, ingredient and freight payments, invoicing and accounts receivable.

Develop an understanding of priced position (cash), activities (contract and inventory), and their relationship to futures accounting procedures.
To review and report inventory balances and values to management as required
Develop and maintain proper accounting procedures and controls for AgriBusiness locations in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
To review and maintain records and documents for proper SOX controls.
Strive to achieve "Best Practice" methods in regard to daily/weekly/monthly accountabilities
In accordance with the company accounting calendar, complete monthly closing activities for assigned areas of responsibility.
Duties to include inventory review and analysis, sales reconciliations, freight costs review and analysis, futures review and reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, financial and operational reporting, and various analysis
Prepare monthly management reports, variance analyses, and other ad hoc report requests from management
To learn various systems and be proficient in using and navigating as needed.
Some include Blackine, SAP, Prokarma, Paperwise, etc.
Develop working relationships with various teams.
This will include sales, production, PAB management, FP&A and corporate groups
Perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor and members of management
Minimum Education
BS/BA degree (Accounting or Accounting concentration)
Experience Requirements
0 - 1 year experience
Strong math and analytical skills
Above average knowledge of Excel
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of GAAP
Knowledge of standard accounting software applications
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db.
to 110 db.
May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
