Miltec UV is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to join our Engineering Team in Stevensville, Maryland.

The Engineering Internship objectives include career path exploration, work experience, skills development, and refinement.
This internship is designed to provide the individual with the opportunity to gain experience in a limited time span within Miltec’s engineering and manufacturing operation.
SCOPE: Participation in Engineering projects focused on new product development, product characterization and manufacturing engineering.
Possible topics can include, among others, planning and conducting a series of experiments focused on improvements of microwave energized plasma UV emitting bulbs, characterization of performance characteristics of UV curing equipment as a function of design and installation parameters, mechanical design of manufacturing and quality control fixtures and enclosure design for a new product line of electronic power supplies.
A topic will be chosen in collaboration with the engineering intern.
SUMMARY The Engineering department designs custom UV curing equipment for manufacturers / industrial environments.
Miltec Engineers frequently interface with other departments and management making this a highly visible internship.
Candidates will learn about the many roles within an organization and how they work together to bring products to market in the global economy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As an Engineering Intern you will collaborate with members of the engineering team.
Based on your interests and experience level we will define a project that is relevant to Miltec’s business success and can be completed in the time available.
With support from the team you will plan, execute, and report on the progress of the project.
You will also participate in the daily activities of the engineering team and support the team with design tasks, data collection, experiments and assembly of products as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Curiosity and Creativity
Basic understanding of electrical and electromechanical product design and manufacturing
Fundamental knowledge of mechanical CAD systems, SolidWorks experience preferred.
Ability to work in a team with members from all disciplines within the organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to listen to others.
Strong research and data analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, some experience with MATLAB, Minitab, or similar software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Pursuing a BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering or Physics.

Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 30 lbs.
Excellent manual dexterity – hand and fingers
